Viaur viaducts

Railway viaduct

In the XIXth century with a view to boosting exchanges between le Rouergue and the Albi region, it was decided to create a rail link between Albi and Rodez. French builders battled it out at a competition in 1887. 8 projects were presented, included 2 from Mr. Eiffel and it was Mr. Bodin who was to win the contract.
The structure is 460 metres long. The opening of the arch is 220 metres and the railway towers 116 metres above the water.

Road viaduct

The new Viaur road viaduct, close to its rail counterpart, is located on the RN 88 (650 m long, 120 m high, 2X2 lanes). It was inaugurated in 2000 and brings Toulouse closer to Naucelle and Rodez.
